What Is Transformer

Image
The reason for transforming the voltage to a much higher level is that higher distribution voltages implies lower currents for the same power and therefore lower I 2 R losses along the networked grid of cables. These higher AC transmission voltages and currents can then be reduced to a much lower, safer and usable voltage level where it can be used to supply electrical equipment in our homes and workplaces, and all this is possible thanks to the basic  Voltage Transformer . The  Voltage Transformer  can be thought of as an electrical component rather than an electronic component. A transformer basically is very simple static (or stationary) electro-magnetic passive electrical device that works on the principle of Faraday’s law of induction by converting electrical energy from one value to another. The transformer does this by linking together two or more electrical circuits using a common oscillating magnetic circuit which is produced by the transfo...

Wind energy tracking: Wind energy can be collected through the following turbines ·          Horizontal axis wind turbine: ·          Vertical axis wind turbine:                                              When compared to vertical axis wind the horizontal axis wind turbine is commonly used type     It is a turbine in which axis of the rotor’s rotation is parallel to the wind stream and the ground. It is built with a propeller type rotor on a horizontal main shaft. It may be two (or) three or multi blades. The rotor converts linear motion of the wind into rotational energy that is used to drive a generator.       The basic principle is that flow of air is parallel to the rotation axis of the turbine blades. The wind pas...

Renewable Sources

ENERGY RESOURCES:          Energy sources can be classified into two types. They are renewable and non-renewable sources of energy. Non renewable:         Non renewable resources, such as fossil fuels and nuclear material, are removed from the earth and can be depleted. These resources have been the most used type of energy in the modern era. i) Coal:       Coal is a non renewable fossil fuel produced worldwide. It is formed when millions of years of pressure and heat turn the remains of prehistoric forests and swamps into coal. Coal is taken out of the earth either by deep mining(tunnelling underground) or strip mining(digging out layers of earth). It exists in different grades or qualities.       Coal is used predominantly to produce electricity and to provide fuel for industries that require large amounts of heat. Production of steel, cement and p...
