The reason for transforming the voltage to a much higher level is that higher distribution voltages implies lower currents for the same power and therefore lower I 2 R losses along the networked grid of cables. Working of Solar Panel: The solar cells on the calculation and satellites are also called photovoltaic (PVC) cells, Which as the name implies (photo meaning light and voltaic meaning electricity), convert sunlight directly into the electricity. A module is a group of cells connected electrically and packaged into a frame (more commonly known as solar panel), which can then be grouped into large solar arrays. Photovoltaic cells are made of special materials called semiconductors such as silicon, which is currently used most commonly. Basically, when light strikes the cell, a certain portion of it is absorbed within the semiconductor material. This means that the energy of the absorbed light is transferred to the semiconductor. ENERGY RESOURCES:          Energy sources can be classified into two types. They are renewable and non-renewable sources of energy. Non renewable:         Non renewable resources, such as fossil fuels and nuclear material, are removed from the earth and can be depleted. These resources have been the most used type of energy in the modern era. i) Coal:       Coal is a non renewable fossil fuel produced worldwide. It is formed when millions of years of pressure and heat turn the remains of prehistoric forests and swamps into coal. Coal is taken out of the earth either by deep mining(tunnelling underground) or strip mining(digging out layers of earth).
